Other than thinking Twilight thoughts, I have been preparing mentally and physically for Alaska. As of today it is windchill of -17F and D tells me the sun is up for four hours a day. I'm excited. It's insane to go there in the winter but it was my idea and D made it happen and now there is nothing to do about it other than live it. I look forward to being in the snow and seeing the aurora borealis. I have hopes of smelling the cold and maybe remembering being home for the holiday.
In the meantime... I have some reading to do. I am on the most current Stephanie Laurens book finally. I have SYTYCD Canada episodes to watch. We have to shop for Charlie, Erin and the boys this weekend. I have at least 3 viewings of Twilight to see (providing I can stay awake through the midnight showing). I have a half ton of yogurt to eat before Tuesday. Ah life is good.
On Monday we got up at 6am to be in Westwood by 7:30 to get in line for the Twilight Premiere audience. There were already 400 people ahead of us and some people had been camping out since Friday night. It was utterly insane. Belle and I settled in with knitting and City of Ashes to pass the time in the unbelievable heat, 90F. You can believe me when I say it was ridiculous the number of annoying, loud and stupid people. And maybe we can own up to the stupid part of that ourselves but it was painful. We waited until noon and then they let us move and it took 2 hours for us to get our wristbands to get into the holding area. Then it was waiting on your feet for 3 hours with no room to stretch and people started pusing and shoving early. They did come by and gave us water. My guess is that they were worried that people would pass out. Then they gave us little rubber bracelets that say Twilight and then 11-21-08. Finally they gave us t-shirts. The smallest size was a medium and it was pretty big. Then it was more waiting. I was just happy I could text D because I desperately needed to get my mind off the crowds and there was nothing there but people which does not soothe me. So D saved the day. And the cute small child named Lindsay who stood in front of us who was totally adorable. They handed out raffle tickets to win passes for the premiere and I told Belle I would ditch her if I won and it was only one ticket. Then when we heard it was two, I told her I still ditch her and take Kellan.
The first one to show was Michael Welch and then it is kind of a blur. We were stading at the end of the runway, right before the platform for the interviews and it was a difficult place to be because a lot of actors, *cough*KStew and Taylor*cough* blew right by and didn't even cast a look in our direction. Not to rant but I don't think that Taylor is that big of a star that he can snub fans, not that I am saying I'm one of them but there were several around me, this early in the game. It's such an arrogant move. Kellan was beautiful and he was big and brawny and sweet to the fans. He signed tons of things and took pictures with what seemed like everyone. I think the best description of him would be dapper. Mhmmm.
Jackson was incredible. I haven't been a big Jackson fan because some of the the MTV interviews with him just turned me off. But he was just so nice. He came to our section on three separate occassions to get everyone. He took his time and seemed genuinely appreciative. I was really impressed and I totally have had my mind changed. I would say that I am now a fan.
Sol came through and people behind me were surprised that he was even in the movie because he had such a small part and they were disappointed in the fact that he's this thin wirery guy. He seemed to eat up the attention though. I don't know how I feel about him but I was hoping he'd come over and give me Krys's phone number or last name.
Justin Chon looked really good but I wasn't able to find any pics of him. I think he was the second of the night to show. He kind of got lost in the interview section and was never to be seen by me again.
Peter Facinelli was there with Jennie Garth who just looks beyond beautiful althought I hated the dress she wore. It looked like a Grecian looking garbage bag. Both took time to sign. I thought it was awesome that Jennie signed autographes as it wasn't her event. They looked really good together. He's a handsome devil.
Cam was a freaking lunatic. He was a ham and cheeseball. Belle maintains that he is d-bag and I have to agree because he is, but I love him to death. I was hoping to get close enough to him to tell him that I know where he shops. I want to see if I can unnerve him if I tell him we live near one another.
I didn't care too much about Ashley. I feel bad for not being excited about her but I was blown away by Rachelle's stunning beauty. She looked breathtaking. I wish I could have heard the interview she gave. The one draw back of being there in person.
A couple of others that I didn't get too excited about were Billy Burke, Elizabeth Reaser, Gil Birmingham--who teased fans with his attentions. It seemed cruel. Sarah Clarke was there too. Oh! Edi was there and he was so cute. He was dressed real nice and he seemed to be caught between being a ball of energy and very serious. Again another interview I would have likd to have heard. Christian was gorgeous. Anna Kendrick was there and sort of flew below my radar. Melissa Rosenberg was there and she looked about 20 foot tall and really elegant but I wanted actors.
So who's left? Kristen and Rob. First like I said before, I'm not sold on KStew and I won't have my mind changed until I see the movie. Her attitude towards fans is a growing amusement. She called them retarded at one point so it is all kinds of fun to watch what comes out of her mouth. I really would have loved to see what would have happened if she had to interact with the fans last night. I thought that last night she looked really pretty. Not at all the brokeass whore that she could have looked like. But her facial expressions in every picture seem to bleed through her general unhappiness to be there and I don't know who I feel worse for her or the fans.
Now Rob... He surprised me on multiple counts. He was dressed up and not in a button up shirt undone to his nipples. His hair started out combed back and not a duck's butt. He was not the last one to arrive. He was clean shaven. I really expected him to show up in typical Rob fashion and I love him dearly but I put nothing he does as a surprise these days. But no, no. Rob was gorgeous and stylish even. Although in my opinion his pants were a little tight looking but I blame his stylist for that. By the time he got up to us his hair was all silly but that is because the man has a serious nervous habit and it couldn't be helped. He went out of his way to sign things for fans and play the doting actor. I totally feel for the man. He's been elevated to near god status in the fandom and he is handling it like it's nothing at all. He doesn't even get to move without the soundtrack of screaming girls. No one can ever hear him. Poor guy. What happens when he leaves acting for a music career?
More pictures when Bell sends hers. In this video you can see Belle in the crowd, she's in the pink.
After we left North Shore we took a nice long ride down the east side of the Salton Sea. Our destination was Slab City. Slab City is a hippie mecca, seen in the movie Into the Wild, it is where Christopher McCandless squats for a bit and meets the girl, played by Kristen Stewart. Well we were headed there. It doesn't really have a marker on most maps, so it was a little hit or miss with the directions we had and we over shot the turn by an entire town. Slab City is near/in Niland. We arrived at sundown so we couldn't even really see the place really well. My phone was useless in low light. Ja and Kev are going to send me their photos so I can show you all the work that this guy Leonard has done there. He was a nice guy although a bit preachy. He gave us a tour and answered all of Kev's questions and then gave us these puzzles with Love Mountain on them. It was pretty neat and Kev called it a National Treasure. I stand corrected by D, Congress called it a National Treasure. I hope to go back there in daylight too and spend some time walking through it. Maybe not claim the mountain that sounds scary but I want to really experience it.
Before we took Kev and Ja back we took Kev to Del Taco. Don't ask, it was important for him to go there. We hung out and got a load of perishables that the Reilly's didn't want to leave behind. Then I started to crash. It was a serious deflation and I was asleep almost from the point of getting my seat belt on. It was sad to say goodbye to Kev but I have hopes of us seeing them more often so maybe these goodbyses won't seem so bittersweet. D and I are going to be going home for 4th of July next year and maybe we will get them to make the trek to NEPA. I really hope.
Today D and I spent the day watching Tivo. I was behind on True Blood and Gossip Girl. I also had downloaded this weeks SYTYCD Canada. I was so happy with who went home. I hope that Nico and Arassay and Danny and Allie continue to do well. I'm starting to like Francis and Natalli too. Don't tell D because he really isn't a Francis fan. I do hate that Leah bitch for psyching me out on the bottom three announcements. I don't really think she is a bitch but she does play with my head. I still have Friday Night Lights to watch. That might not be until tomorrow though because hockey is on and D won't allow us to watch anything else. He's a real remote control nazi.
I've had the most painful Monday. My reading habit turned evil and consequence was scaring. I was reading a Night World ebook and I kept putting off leaving for therapy. I usually leave at 2pm and it was 3:15 before I started getting my stuff to leave. I forgot my phone. I dropped my keys on the bus and they rolled away. I was reading The Kitchen God's Wife and I missed my bus stop and got dropped off 2 miles away from where I needed to be. No phone to call D. The return bus stop was packed with students from the nearby school. So I walked it, as fast as I could because I was worried I'd be late. I passed every scary homeless person I could and that always makes me really uncomfortable. I finally made it to the office and I was positively exhausted. Lesson learned, don't be such a slave to my obsession or my ass will be stranded in Santa Monica.
A lot was shaken in the Sherrilyn Kenyon world yesterday. She announced the characters and synopsis for Dream Warrior due out in February. I'm totally confused because I thought that was to be Aimee and Fang's story. Who knows. She also announced the cover of the DH manga. I like the red one better but this is okay. It's probably more expressive of bad ass Kyrian. Then last night I got an email from St. Martin's with the excerpt from One Silent Night and I still have my reservations. I'm just not a Stryker fan. Although if it promises Urian then I it's almost a given that I will read it.
I just finished reading the Night World books. I maintain that Ash is my favorrite character with Morgead a close second. It makes me want to go back and read some parts of Jez and Morgead's story again. But the last three stories are way different than the first six. They are all millenium stories about the apocalypse. And to go from James and Poppy's story well it is like a whole different world. And Ash stops showing up after the sixth story too. They don't reference back to anyone other than Rashel and Quinn. The one thing that did get me was reading the summary of Strange Fate which will be the tenth book was that she says seven characters go off to fight the apocalypse and only two come back and that destroys me. There was no one I could say was annoying enough that they could die. Okay Maggie has something like death coming to her but I don't know if it's death. And she wouldn't be sent to fight. She would be home inciting the underdogs to revolt.
I picked up Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder from the library and I plan to start it today. Belle recommends it so I have pretty high hopes for it. I also have to get somewhere in The Kitchen God's Wife today because it's my 20 in 20. I should have picked Jekyl and Hyde. I would be done with it already. But I didn't so I have to suck it up. I think my real problem is this is out of the genre I'm used to reading and it just doesn't hold my attention like other books do. It's not bad, but it's not the elixir for what stirs me. I'm hoping Poison Study will be able to hold my attention.
There were a few interesting Twilight related photos out in the last few days. I like the Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson photostrip the most. I think Rob's face looks too angular in the new poster. There are a lot of articles coming out in the coming weeks and I guess that is to be expected with the movie release being about six weeks away. I kind of thought there would be a bigger push. It doesn't really seem to
be getting the publicity I thought they would put behind it. Maybe they are waiting for mid October. I hope something happens or it will be just the fandom going to see it opening weekend and that won't be good at all. This Wednesday is the So You Think You Can Dance show. I am excited but somehow nervous about it. I don't know what is bothering me about it exactly. I hope that Matt and Kourtni will be touring with them. And I want to see Gev and Courtny again. It should be fun. So what's my problem? I don't know. But after the show, Belle, Susan, their friend April, D and I will be going to the 101 for a really late dinner. So I'll have a double dose of the girls this week. Wait if we include my birthday party this weekend it will be a triple dose. They will be really sick of me by then. Heather will shoot herself in the head from me asking if she's read City of Bones a hundred times. It will be to the point where they will cancel on Monday for Friday.
On another note, things in which caught my attention and have me tingling from head to toe. Today I was at DSW and I found two pairs of shoes for the fall. I got one pair that is a brown slip-on and one pair that is black with a cute little buckle. I love shopping for shoes. Although I admit I'm not at all interested in serious shoes. I like my cheap Mudds. I don't need more than that. Of course I still haven't found a pair of gold sandals to go with my green and gold dress though. I would love to be able to wear the dress for my birthday but it's not looking good.
There have been a few pictures and videos surrounding Twilight this week. I like the one to the right although Kristen Stewart looks elven and RPatz looks like he's been goosed. I would love for some of the new footage to be leaked. I am eager to see the Cullen past and don't want to wait for the movie. I'm too eager maybe. And the one interview with the defamer with Rob was pretty funny. Although I find Rob is usally amusing. I am feeling more and more disheartened with my obsession though. I'm still excited about the movie but the more time that passes and I think about Stephenie Meyer's politics and dramatics the less I enjoy the world. Maybe it's my way of dealing with disappointment.
Speaking of disappointments... and weirdly enough not mine. I finally got around to watching the new 90210 and I am the only person on the earth who did not hate it. I found it to be nothing more or less than the original. I remember watching the premiere of the original and it being bad. I liked it but it really wasn't anything good and at 17 I knew that. The new one is no worse and those who cry foul aren't being honest. I do have to say that Kellan-I-Am-A-Babe-Lutz is a mega asshole in it. I find the main character, Annie, played by Shenae Grimes is so unnattractive that I cringe as I watch all these 'hott' boys supposedly are into her. I just can't buy it. I do like Ethan The Blow Job Boy. I like the conflicted but good guys. I can't stand Naomi. I hope something truly evil befalls her. But, unlike all my friends I will be watching the second episode. I will watch the third too if it isn't cancelled by then.
And on to books. I read my little head off the end of last week and finished reading the Rhonda Nelson series I was reading and started on Kelley St. John's The Sexth Sense series. I managed to read the first three of the six and then hit the roadblock of not having the fourth book. I ordered it but it won't be hear for almost 2 weeks. I am sad to have to put it on hold for that long and could probably read them out of order but I have a rigidity that just won't let me cheat. So I wait. I did start my 20 in 20 for this week today and I just don't understand. I love Steinbeck and I've been meaning to read this book for almost 2 years. Yet I am having the hardest time getting into The Moon is Down. In 3 hours I managed to read 14 pages. I was distracted by nearly everything. At this point I will be reading this book still at week 20. I haven't even thought about what else I might read this week. I am going to need to have much fun books to reward myself with. Maybe I will finally get to reading another Vampire Kisses book. That should be sweet and diversionary. Please Steinbeck, don't make me hate my 20 in 20 idea.
Ah... exhaustion in the morning. I just don't wake up that easy and waking up at 6AM is even harder. But I did it and I paid a high price. I couldn't keep my head up, nodding off every few moments until nearly 11AM. I fell asleep on my feet while awaiting the Twilight Autograph Raffle... and I didn't win a spot. D, who got me a choice seat in Hall H, then had to sit elsewhere, let me crash in his lap at one point and Alex who works for Access Hollywood, filmed me sleeping on the sidewalk. It was a terrible morning. I really just cannot function if I don't sleep until I wake up naturally. Augh.
But then the day started to pick up and get fun and I was a little less comatose for it. Hall H was impossible to get into with a line that snaked around the little yard next to the convention center and then behind it. Belle, Susan and I had the honors of making it last a long time because Belle and I cut, while Sus was a good girl and went to the back of the line. When we spotted her we joined her and increased our time in the line.
The first panel of the day was for the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. I wasn't too impressed. The clips show Keanu doing his normal unemotional and uninspired acting which just leaves me cold. Jennifer Connelly didn't really get much face time in the clips nor in the panel so I have nothing much to say about her. The movie comes out the same date as Twilight and I have high hopes that Twilight will kill it.
After that was the Max Payne panel and I am so awaiting this movie. I usually love Mark Wahlberg movies and I feel no shame in admitting that. The movie is based on the
video game and I've never played it but I am assuming that Max Payne is a force to be reckoned with. Mila Kunis, Chris Bridges--formerly known as Ludicris, are also in the cast. Mark boldly claimed the talent of Chris, saying he did an incredible job. The clips they showed were action packed. A lot of bullets flying and people dying. Again I really liked this one and I will be awaiting it's release in October. I hope that Mark takes his shirt of at some point to add to the goodness of the movie.
The next panel was for the movie Push starring Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle and Djimon Hounsou. The director, Paul McGuigan was also on the panel. I wasn't sure about the movie at first but the clips that they showed sold me on it.The one clip showed Dakota and Chris in a fish market in Hong Kong and they run into these bad guys and fishtanks are exploding all around them. It sounds silly when I say it but it was really intriguing. Chris Evans is really too hot.
I wasn't really into the Nicholas Cage movie, Knowing. It looks interesting but I'm not a Cage fan. The premise is something I would want to read about though. It's too bad its a movie.
Finally it was time for Twilight and I was so not disappointed. The venue quivered and squeed as the cast, Stephenie and Catherine came out. I sadly can't tell you much of what they talked about because I was so excited I really don't know that I was of sound mind. I do remember Catherine intimating that Rob was doing Bella's Lullaby. I know that Rob wants Taylor to take his shirt off. There is a pervert of a TwiMom out there who asked a 16 year old boy if he wears boxers or briefs and asked Kristen if she knew if Rob did. When a fan yells that they love Rob, his answer is 'Good'. Cam wants to come back next movie despite the fact that his character dies in this movie. Rob thinks Rachelle is smarter than him. Rob looked adorable and humble and shy. Alex interviewed him for Access Hollywood and I'm anxious to see that article. Catherine wasn't asked that many questions. Stephenie pushed Breaking Dawn saying her favorite Edward and Bella moment was in the fourth book. Kristen looked really good. She was nervous and fidgety though. It looked endearing rather than unprofessional. Cam looked really good and his humor really came out. Rachelle is always so eloquent and gorgeous. Edi did get to answer a few questions and it was the first time I really have ever heard him speak. And Taylor looked so so young and shiny and new.
Vox isn't letting me add any more pictures to this post so I will start a new one with the rest of the day and the Twilight photos.
The next book I plan to read will be He's Just Not That Into You by Greg Beherendt and Liz Tuccillo. I just got it from BookMooch today. And I'm reading Innuendo by Crystal Green at the same time. Maybe tomorrow I can read through them both. I have a doctors appointment which will cut into my reading time but I don't have much else on my plate for the day. With Comic Con coming up next week, I need to read as much as possible while I can. Because I won't get any quality reading done while I am there. That isn't what you go there for.
My day was good although it ended on a note of disappointment. I got to talk with Nicky on Gtalk for almost three hours today. I don't get to spend as much time online with him as we once spent. I miss him so much that the times I do get to talk with him are always a high point. If only Vancouver were closer to LA. This evening was a bit of a downer. I got all dressed up and went to Westwood for the Step Brothers Premiere and then didn't get in. They did give us all passes for a free AMC movie viewing but I had really wanted to see the movie tonight. I did get passes for next Tuesday's screening of Pineapple Express. Hopefully we will have better luck with that. It was funny because I was just telling Nicky that I was looking forward to the new Seth Rogen release.
As for Twilight, today was a big day... The new trailer premiered on Entertainment Tonight and it, in my opinion, showcases Cam Gigandet being a scary mofo, more than anything. They showed a few scenes never seen before. Rob looks pretty good in most of them. My feeling of the trailer is that it is still selling to the fandom and I am really waiting for the trailer that is for the general public. The scenes seemed a bit hodge podge to me. I was looking for something more seamless and purposeful. I think when they release the trailer on Yahoo! Movies that it will be a bit different than what they showed on ET... sayin' that it won't have the floor destruction clip 47 times.
But that's not all. I got my notice in the mail from TwilightTheMovie.com talking about the EW issue and the trailer. They had a reminder about Comic Con. And it was Twilight Tuesday today and they finally had something about Rob. The interview has some real cute parts in it. The part about his feet was a bit odd. Size 10 doesn't seem so big to me. I quizzed D about his shoe size to compare. My complaint is that while this is all new to us, the footage is months old now. I want an interview with hobo Rob in a bar somewhere with his hookers while he chain smokes and answers questions like where does he stay, here, in LA and what his phone number is. How do I get Larry Carroll on that?
Lastly, for tonight, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. The first act went live last night and we watched it as soon as we heard. It's pretty funny stuff. I mean it's Joss Whedon so how could it not be funny? NPH is awesome in it. I love his mannerisms. He sings really well too. Nathan Fillion is just what I thought he would be and that isn't a bad thing. I think the two of them together really tickled my funny bone. I wish this was bigger, longer and much more. My friend and comrade, Alex Cook, who doesn't pay his girlfriend for sex, interviewed Joss on Monday and the article is really pretty good. Of course Access Hollywood doesn't even have Twilight on it's radar so I don't know how serious you can take the rest of the site. Back to Joss. I have planned out everyday at Comic Con and I am planning to go to the Dr. Horrible Q&A panel and the late night showing. Seeing anything with Joss makes it funner. That is how I saw my first screening of Serenity, with Joss and 100 of his closest friends (of the night). Note to self... must meet Joss again this year at Comic Con.
I am so many days behind and have so much to muse on that I am bouncing off the walls to write this. I'll start by saying that I did go to the Results Show for So You Think You Can Dance. I am really proud of Belle and I for correctly guessing the bottom three and who would be voted off the show. Although the later wasn't much of a stretch of the imagination. I had a great time though, even though we had the world's most annoying guy in front of us. I would love to go and do it again. Without the sunburn though. My arm is still an alarming scarlet color.
This week Entertainment Weekly released a cover with Robert Pattinson and
Kristen Stewart and it is CRACK. And I don't mean that like it's a good thing. No. Number one for me is that Edward doesn't have pretty blue eyes and Bella isn't supermodel-like. No, that is all someones bad dream. I read somewhere someone called him a hairy powdered donut and that makes me laugh, but I can see it. I think it's a nice attempt to get Twilight some early love but it was poorly executed. Very poorly. The other images from the magazine are nice enough. The one with Rob carrying Kristen is especially nice. I think I will make that one my new layout image for my phone and this journal... the second is a bit photoshop-ed to the silly but it's still a nice enough depiction. Somewhere there is a femi-nazi looking at them saying they clearly show his abusive tendencies. I did buy mine, 2 actually so I can see the hairy powdered donut up close. The Promo to Penelope has been leaked and it's a cute minute long thing of behind the scenes action. There was another with them doing a scene where he is bringing her to the Cullen's home and then where he is dancing with her in his room and they were more "pay-dirt" than this one but they have been pulled from YouTube by Summit for copyright infringement. I got this one though and uploaded to my own server so no one would yank it on me down the line.
But wait it doesn't stop there... More Twilight related stuff. Today D and I were at the Apple store at the Grove at 6:30AM to get in line for the new iPhones. This guy arrived about 7 on crutches and he juggled a coffee while trying to stand up without them. Did I recognize him then, no. No it was about 9:30 when D asked me if he was someone and I took a really good look at him and realized he was Cam Gigandet. The things I did notice about him is that he is hott in person, he smokes, a lot and he did something to his right leg and spent a lot of time pacing with his crutches. He was about 10 people behind us in line and I didn't feel comfortable approaching him so I just took really bad photos of him. Maybe a braver soul would have said hi, but that soul so wasn't me.
Also in line was Adam Goldberg and he was taking pictures with people in line near him but we weren't in the same line so that never became an option. He looks exactly as he does in the movies.
Last night after we got home we watched Shoot 'Em Up and it was a classic. The lines are so cheesy they are brilliant and the parts with the baby and Clive Owen are just priceless. I decided that we need to own this movie. Monica Bellucci as a lactating prostitute who Owens falls for is just a hilarious premise and the movie delivers.
So, I've had SYTYCD shows, movies, new iPhones, movie star sightings and tons of things on the internet to entertain me. Not to mention I have been reading romance novels one after another again. So is it surprising it took me a few days to post?
Today was Twilight Tuesday and Larry Carroll delivered some behind the scenes stuff. The first blog is about the Cullen Family Crest. The other is interviews and clips regarding the direction away from the book. Catherine Hardwicke talks about how the film can show in seconds something that might take the book 25 pages to say. The one clip is behind the scenes at the field trip to the green house and how Bella is trying to get Edward to tell her how he stopped Tyler's van. I have a little wibble with the delivery of Edward's line about it being adrenaline and how it's not uncommon, that she should look it up on Google. It just bothers me. I don't know if it's Rob there or the line itself. I do like the idea that they have this talk somewhere other than the hospital. I think that is what I think, for right now atleast. Who knows I'm fickle maybe it will bother me more later.

On to another book. I finally read Highlander Ever After, which is the third and final book, by Jennifer Ashley, about Nvengarians. It was a really fast read. It seemed like chapters just flew by. I liked Egan from previous books and he was a little more sensitive and less the mad highlander so that was different. You hear a lot about Zarabeth in the first two books and it's interesting to finally meet her in the third. I felt a little like her character wasn't as developed as it could have been. I didn't get why he was in love with her. I did like the idea of the magic, but as a witch, I think Zarabeth should have used it more often. I would have also liked to hear more about this connection that Egan and Zarabeth share when one of them is in danger. It's just a romance novel though so I guess I can't really complain.
I picked up Blood and Chocolate and started reading it but I was feeling the effects of the new medication and almost fell asleep with my face in the book. I think I will have to go back and read it all over again. I also got further in Fragile Things. I didn't think I would read more of it but I have been. I think I even liked the one story, The Flints of Memory Lane. There are currently 8 books in my to read pile. Coraline, Atonement, Sebastian, Belladonna, City of Bones, Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town, Lock and Key and Tithe. I'm not so sure about the Cory Doctorow book. It sounds a bit out there... we will have to wait and see.
Tonight I think David and I are going to watch Enchanted. Last summer was hard with me always being in the hospital so I didn't get to see it then. It's weird not having hockey to watch anymore. I miss Vesa. I guess this just gives me more time to read.
I used to be more clever than I am these days. I used to write very interesting entries and these days I am living through my interests. This post won't be different. I just have to marvel at my former wit and wonder where it all went. It's like I've had a lobotomy. I was more fun before. I had edges. *sigh*
Today was Twilight Tuesday and Stephenie Meyer announced that she would be doing the Breaking Dawn Tour in conjunction with Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October. She will be in LA at UCLA's Royce Hall, 7 August. I am just one who doesn't learn, I wasn't so blown away with the last signing and yet I am bound and determined to go to this one. And it's more expensive too. She's really not worth it but I am compelled to go. It's like I'm a domestic violence victim and I keep going back.
I had hoped that we would get more about Twilight the movie on Twilight Tuesday. I really don't think Breaking Dawn touring dates count. I don't think I can be convinced that that was worth my full attention. You could give me Taylor Lautner and it would be better. Oh hell, I'm rarely happy on Twilight Tuesday. I like them beefy with Rob and Kristen. I have yet to have one that gave me a Kellan fix. That would be awesome. There are many Tuesdays between now and 12 Decemeber though. There is still hope. C'mon MTV, give me a Kellan Tuesday.
Last night D got me to watch some season 1 Veronica Mars. Jason Dohring is so perfect as Logan Echolls. We watched the Pilot and Credit Where Credit's Due and it was as good as I remember. We found a map with all the locations on it and there are a few that we have never seen. Maybe if we are down there in SD for Comic Con we can scope out some of the new places. New to me. I guess the fangirl in me is still die-hard. Atleast I'm not staying up all night reading Logan fanfic and stalking Jason Dohring. Although that experience made me really deluded about how celebrities react to fans. He was way too nice to us. It is too bad Moonlight got cancelled. I'm sure he'd have been at Comic Con otherwise. Okay I'm scaring myseld with where this line of thinking is going. I can only fixate on one celebrity at a time and I have to choose Rob for the time being. I say that after mooning over Kellan.
Books... they don't usually petition for restraining orders. I finished This Lullaby last night and I really liked it. I did have some minor issues with it like the time frame, it felt like things were a little rushed and that the time period given wasn't enough for the events that take place. Of course I was put out by the main character, it's not a book if I don't like the main character. The girls always drive me crazy and Remy Starr was no different. She's inflexible and pigheaded and a little too know-it-all for me. Dexter, the love interest, on the contrary, is quirky, bumbling and adorable. I don't think there was a line by his character that I didn't like. He's easily relatable and his faults aren't annoying to anyone other than Remy. I really found the pacing good up until nearing the end when there are long periods of Remy with everyone but Dexter and this was tedious. The pay off was a drop in the bucket when I wanted a deluge. It felt a bit like an afterthought. But in the end for all my complaints I did like it. It was a quick read and I really want to read Dessen's new book now. I also BookMooched How to Deal which is Someone Like you and That Summer together. I hope to read a lot more Dessen. I approve.
So after I finshed This Lullaby I started Fragile Things and so far I'm barely into it and already remembering that I hate Neil Gaiman's short stories. I just never like these compilations. I am going to try to read to page 50 and see if I don't enjoy it more but as of now I am really in hell. I like Neil Gaiman, I really do. His short stories always bore me though. I don't find them a draw like I did with Neverwhere, Good Omens, Stardust or American Gods. A part of me just thinks that there is a good reason why none of these are full books. These are the cast offs that he couldn't make work. Someone is going to be a huge Gaiman fan and feel really insulted by that, but it's how I feel and I won't apologize for not liking crappy stories. When I get a Gaiman craving I would be better off reading something I've already read than to read Smoke and Mirrors or Fragile Things.
